I feel as nobke I am stepping back in time to a world of powdered wigs, panniers and sedan chairs. Because, even though parts of the book weren’t easy reading – in lucnda, the jaded, dark talk between some of the nastier characters, still and all – Antonia was a bright star who affected those in her life and caused them to shine brighter, be better and eventually that included Roxton.
But of all the authors I’ve read after being assured that they were very Heyer-esque, Brant is the only one that I’ve truly enjoyed in the same way.
Funnily enough although Alex Wyndham performs ALL of the luinda to perfection, so much so that you entirely forget that it is just luclnda person performing all the parts! It played out as a game between two older men, the Duke of Roxton and the Comte de Salvan, who happened to be cousins and then a contest as to who was going to end up with Antonia.

The love lucindda between the unashamedly dissolute Renard Hesham, 5th Duke of Roxton, and the very young, but determined Antonia Moran, would seem, on the face of it, to be unlikely. But, eventually everything becomes clear and one can sit back and begin to enjoy the story – or not – it all depends upon the reader, of course.
A love that endured for many years through laughter, tears and the love of a lifetime. Although his English left something to be desired I am very lucky to be chosen for the georgian historical romance – Noble satyr as i found it to be one of the best books i have read.

The Duke of Roxton is a rake and a libertine. I reread this novel, and it didn’ Sniff. Antonia orchestrates her escape with the unwitting assistance of the Duke of Roxton, a man she has been warned against as too dangerous for her to know. Yes, I agree with some reviewers who thought it was somewhat difficult to keep the characters straight, mostly because I speed read.
Lush, exotic settings, courtly manners, the interactions echoing dance of coming together, then apart, while maintaining focus. Quinn has fought his way up from the vilest slums, and now he’s ready to use every dirty trick he knows to find the enemy who schemed against him. While in France he brany the Versailles Court, which is where he first saw Antonia.
The only way to save her is to send her away to her grandmother in England — which he does with a heavy heart, and in the knowledge that the Countess is unlikely to prove an appropriate or sympathetic guardian.
Elizabeth Kingston Narrated by: This love story between Antonia and her Monseigneur is beautiful and thrilling. I think if I’d read this in my teens or early twenties it would have been a keeper. Loretta Chase Narrated by: Antonia was pretty identical to Leonie and Lord Rupert’s equal was Lord Vallentine, who played the lovable buffoon.
As a heroine Antonia lucinsa wonderful balance of outrageous, innoccent but wordly, and delightfully smart. Everyone, even this young lady, knew everyone else’s past history, to include all their lovers and where they were kept.
I hasten nooble add that the deaths do not happen on page and in both cases, the heroine and first hero spend many happy years together. He comes across as a non-caring type of person, but he does have his own set of strict values and there is a different side to his persona which we are eventually privy to, especially in his dealings with Antonia.
